Military Law and Life Matters
|
While on active duty, I was the Senior Legal Advisor and Voting Member on the Officer Grade Determination Board that reviewed OGDs. The Board made recommendations to the Secretary of the Air Force on the grade an officer should be retired. I also presented the cases of General Officers facing OGDs to Boards of General Officers who reviewed and made recommendations on the case. I now focus on helping Active Duty Officers who are facing OGDs to ensure they retire in grade.
While on active duty, I also reviewed hundreds of cases submitted by military members requesting upgrades of their discharges. Since retirement, I have assisted veterans to upgrade their administrative discharges by preparing applications to the Discharge Review Boards and submitted applications to the Boards for Correction of Military Records to correct members’ official records.
After graduating from New York Law School, I became an officer in the United States Air Force, serving as a judge advocate with assignments throughout the world including Italy, Japan and Turkey. In addition to my career as a judge advocate, I attended Air Command and Staff College and received a Masters degree in Military Operational Art and Science.
The American Bar Association awarded me the Legal Assistance for Military Personnel Distinguished Service Award in 2006 for my work on behalf of military members while I was an active duty judge advocate.
I am also the author of a children’s book, The Hero Club: 52 Weekly Stories to Share with Your Children about Courage, Compassion, Honesty and other Character Traits that will Inspire Kids to be Heroes.
My years of military experience have taught me how the USAF and other services view military justice cases against military members and this gives me invaluable insight into the military justice process as I help my clients.
